We're talking CD player here right? not a DVD but a CD? therefore you're playing audio files and not audio-visual files, am i correct?

just trying to clarify something here ..

i gather that your tv is hooked up to some sensurround system and you want to listen to your music in sensurround ... awesome.

here's my suggestion ..

1. do you have a VCR or a DVD players? ............. yes? then read on ..

a. connect your cd player, both audio jacks on the "Audio In" of the DVD (or VCR) player.

b. connect your DVD player ... from the "Audio Out" to the "Audio In" of your tv.

c. set your tv to whatever setting when you play your dvd with it. turn everything on and you should be able to hear your cd thru your tv ... in sensurround ..

that helps?

You want to connect your CD player to your TV? Do you mean to your surround sound receiver?

Assuming you did mean the TV, you go from the Audio Out RCA jacks on the CD player to any audio inputs on the TV. Then, you select that input on the TV and the CD player plays through the TV's speakers.

If you meant hooking a CD player to a surround sound receiver, you hook the output of the CD player (RCA cables) to one of the sets of audio inputs on the back of the receiver. You then select that input to hear that audio. You might also have to select a stereo mode on the receiver, because I have never heard of a "surround sound CD player".

EDIT:

Okay, I get it. You want to play the TV audio through the stereo. Just look for the Audio Output jacks (RCA-type) on the back of the TV. These will probably be red and white jacks, next to a yellow Video Out jack. Connect these to the red and white audio jacks for the AV Input on the stereo. When you turn on the TV, go to the menu function that allows you to control the TV audio setup.

First, you want to turn the TV speakers off (use the menu to hunt around - there should be a setting somewhere). Next, set up the audio output for a fixed volume level. This turns up the audio output on your TV all the way up, so it's at the same level as the CD player. You then control the master volume with the stereo.

If, however, you do not have audio output jacks on the back of your TV, you cannot hook the TV audio up to play through the stereo.
