Okay I downloaded a AVI file and would like to burn it to a DVD for playback on my DVD player. How do i go about doing this? I know that I have to convert the AVI file, but I'm having trouble doing so. ConvertXtoDVD is horrible I heard (there's a watermark) and I wasted a blank DVD trying to use DVD flick.

I want a simple and easy way to convert and burn the DVD. I've been recommended to use Windows DVD maker (which I like) but I don't see any conversion options. I don't know if it will automatically convert.

Will appreciate all the help. Also if you're gonna recommend a DVD converter please let it be a free one or at least make sure it has a free trial or something.

Hello, convert and burn downloaded avi file to dvd for playback on my DVD player, so easy, you just need to use a right software to covert and burn a video dvd from your avi file, I know both ConvertXtoDVD and DVDflick are unstable, and now I am using an inexpensive better software RZ DVD Creator, work great, it can convert any downloaded video files to video dvd and burn to any dvd disc(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL, etc), easy to use, insert a dvd disc into your computer dvd burner drive, run RZ DVD Creator, select the dvd burner drive as the target folder, drag and drop the avi file into the software, then press the START button, you will get a right video dvd, and the burned video dvd can be played well on dvd player. You can yahoo or google search and download RZ DVD Creator, the registered version has no watermark, hope it could help you too.

1. Determine that you, in fact, have the rights to copy the DVD for your own personal use. It is not legal to copy DVD's for any and all purposes.

2.btain a DVD ripping program. This is a bit easier said than done. Legal threats have deterred some of the larger software companies from distributing DVD ripping software. Thus the only software you will find will be from companies you may not have heard of. Do an online search on "DVD ripping software" for a list of options. Compare different products, read any disclosures carefully, and look for non-biased reviews (reviews that do not have conflicts of interest) on the products to decide on the right product for yourself.

3.Launch the DVD ripping program on your computer. This is any program that can read DVD format, extract the digital information, then encode it into a file format that is readable on your personal computer.

4.Insert the DVD into your computer's DVD drive and follow the instructions.

I suggest using DVD Author Plus. It will convert your AVI file on-the-fly to make a Video DVD that will work in your DVD Player. DVD Author Plus is an excellent DVD authoring and burning software that will burn your data and video DVD ISO files, create backup ISO files, and even make 1-click copies of your data or Video DVDs.

The intuitive interface makes it easy to use your DVD burner for backups, burning, or copying. For example to make your video DVD:

1. Start the software, and select DVD Video from the Quick-Start selections

2. Drag your AVI file from the file manager at the top of the screen to the DVD layout at the bottom.

3. Click Next, select your DVD burner drive, click create DVD.

The free trial allows you to burn video DVD's without any watermarks.
