RG6 is only slightly more expensive than RG59 but significantly better. RG6 is REQUIRED for Satellite and Digital Cable TV.



You should also be aware there is “Quad-shield RG6” cable available. The “Residential Telecommunications Cabling Standard” recommends “Quad-shield RG6” cable.



I would think Quad-shield RG6 cable would only be necessary for very long distances of cable.

RG-6 has more bandwidth than the older RG-59. They are both "regular (75 ohm) coaxial cables", though. If (like me) you have a house prewired with RG-59, using RG-6 from your cable outlets to your TVs won't buy you anything.

both are acceptible 75Ohm standard coax cables. They vary in there conductant material and insulation slightly. You can see a break down of specifics here:
