you need to read the instruction manual of the receiver. You need the diagrams to help you connect everything together. Briefly, the receiver will have:
1. dvd Recorder In sockets - audio & video cables from your recorder will plug in here.
2. dvd Player In sockets - audio & video cables from your player will plug in here.
3. a Video out socket to connect your video cable to TV1/TV2/RCA socket on your tv monitor.
4. For digital surround sound you should also connect coaxial cable from your Digital Out on your player to the Digital In on your receiver.
But i still think you need the instruction manual.

First you have a cable into the house. This is staring point, your source! Cable to dig receiver, then from Dig Receiver should have on it a out to TV/, go from there to DVD recorder, from DVD recorder to TV. There you go!

Since there are slightly different hookups for different receivers, it's hard to say without the manual. You need to get the manual first.
