Had the VIP 622 from Dish for 3 1/2 yrs. The last couple of months it seemed kinda hot and the fan would turn on even when it was powered off. but it worked. Today we bought a new Receiver with the HDMI plugs since our receiver was 10yrs old. Got the ps3, dish and Wii all set up. After watching TV for about 30 minutes the dish receiver turns off, the HD TV screen turns blue. Now the dish receiver keeps turning ON and OFF all by itself Cannot get a TV signal even for the couple of minutes it does stay on. Tried pulling the card out and un plugging for 30 minutes. The PS3 works fine. at first I thought it was we hooked it up wrong but with these new receivers and HDMI only used (except for wii) how could we have messed up? I will call Dish tomorrow but I don't want them to say its our fault because we hooked it up wrong. We bought the Pioneer VSX 1020 K receiver if that helps. Many thanks

First off, the 622 is a flaming pile of ****. You are lucky it lasted that long. Call Dish Network and go through the troubleshooting stuff with them. If they determine your 622 is defective (and they probably will) they may just send you a new one via UPS and you just swap it out with the old one and send it back. If they do send out a technician they will not charge you because you hooked it up wrong, you may just have to pay for a service call which can be done for as little as $29 which is pretty cheap considering they will go over your entire sat system and redo anything to bring it up to par, along with replacing your receiver if necessary.

If everything else works and the sat box is the problem then you are doing right. If the problem exists without the sat box the problem would be in the TV or the HDMI switching in the pioneer. If it was mine I would get a different receiver. my company only uses pioneer for price point . their quality has really fallen off in the last few years. But more than likely it is probly the sat box. if you have not gotten any watching out of this at all then you may just need to go thru a couple of settings in the menus of your equipment. the only other recourse is maybe your equipment is getting too hot is it in a cabinet or on a shelf ? make sure therei s plenty of air movement. If your stereo gets hotter than 120 degrees you have cut the life of your stereo in half. make sure it stays cool. if it is in a cabinet.
