My DVD player now looks crap on my new HD screen and id like to know if I use my PC with a HDMI cable, what viewing / output software would you use?

I personally use mPlayer for viewing any kind of movie. It doesn't have any eyecandy at all, but does not need any installed codecs that kill your Windows, as all needed codecs are included in its install directory.



But normally any player will do, but the more complex/non-optimized/memory hogging players (like Media Player) may give you choppy images. Also, playing HD videos uses a lot of resources, so if you don't have an above average PC you won't enjoy them that much



oh.. but if you want to watch the old DVD's and not new HD movies, use powerDVD and some anti-aliasing, as it will still look better than the DVD player ;)
