Because people who stay home during the day obviously have nothing better to do with their lives and they need the extra drama to keep them alive. I don't know. Chinese soaps have magic and death and other badass things. American ones just suck.

I use to watch soaps. Then they became corny, contrite, just plan dumb. Then I started, years later, getting addicted to the Japanese and Korean soap operas! Their soaps is more like a story that plays out. Some lasts up to 6 or 7 months with a beginning, a middle and an end. And what's great is that it is subtitled. A lot of Americans, I found out, watch Korean and Japanese soaps because they are a lot more interesting. Their cultural differences on how they take care of families, their customs, et al. Right now, I am watching 'A Farewell to Tears' and it is great! Others were 'My Darling, My Sweetheart' and 'Sakura'. But, like I said, these are not American soaps, they are bad. The good one, worth watching, are from other countries. I hope I didn't go on too long. And these stories are not dumb or unreal, they don't come back to life after you kill them!LOL!
