Question:
Polk Audio Soundbar 5000 switches off automatically?

Polk Audio Soundbar 5000 turns off by itself, I than manually turn it on, it plays for 1-2 minutes and than turns off by itself again. Occasionally instead of turning off, it switches to a different channel by itself or mutes by itself. I can switch back to the original channel or unmute it manually, but either of those things are happening with intervals 2-3 minutes while music is playing.

When I don't use the soundbar, I can occasionally see turning on by itself and than going through each channel, muting etc. But the worst thing is that it does this while I am using it/playing music.

I tried everything of the following:
- Increased the volume of incoming signal,
- Played on a very high volume,
- Tried different channels (including optical and bluetooth),
- Removed batteries from my remote control.

Please assist.

I am streaming internet radio from an ASUS laptop via Bluetooth to a Polk Audio Sound Bar 5000. The sound bar was powering itself off automatically every couple of minutes. After reading the comments on another thread, I turned the volume all the way up on my laptop as well as the on the internet radio player. This did minimize the issue. However, despite the signal being 100%, the sound bar continues to randomly turn itself off. Pretty big disappointment. Just another "modern technology" that fails.

It is experiencing a problem and telling you to get it looked at. Sometimes it is just a glitch in the protective circuitry and sometimes it is worse, like overheating due to a component failure.
