Look at a Pioneer receiver, they are very good in quality and reliability.

I have used Pioneer Elite receiver for many years and have had no problems. The Pioneer VSX-918 list for $349 and you can get it from Best Buy. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the review on the receiver mentioned. It is rated as the top choice in low budgeet receivers by Home Theater magazine. Hope this will help you out.

* 1080p-Compatible HDMI 1.3

* Analog video up-conversion to component video

If you can find a Yamaha on sale in that price range that would be a safe bet. Good solid machines. Pioneer ok but not as good in this price range. Pioneer has really good stuff but mostly the high end stuff. Skip Sony.
