Hi guys, I have a little old fashioned speakers, on the back of the speaker its spring clip like this http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/graphics/infolib/homelib/hspeakerspringclip.jpg and the amp that I have, well actually all the amps around here only have an speaker output with BANANA PLUGS. How would i connect these two, and get good sound quality? I cannot find a banana plug to bare speaker wire cable or something. Please help, im new to all this!

Just use regular speaker wire and buy banana plugs for only one side the side you connect to the receiver...and the other side bare wire to the speakers that's all you need to do.

I have seen people not buy receivers just because they have banana plug connectors. What they don't take the time to realize is that most new receivers have 4 or 5-way connectors. They will accept banana plugs, spade plugs or even bare wire.

Take a look at the connectors on the receiver in question. You will obviously see the banana plug connectors. They should look similar to these.

Now try unscrewing that same connector. The red and black plastic sleeves should unscrew, leaving an open hole in the underneath screw post. Slide the bare wire into the hole behind the threaded sleeve and tighten it back down.

If by chance, the receiver in question doesn't have connectors such as this, then you can buy banana plugs to attach to your speaker wire here.

Good luck.

You just need a cord suitable for speaker duty, which has 1/4" on one plug, and banana plugs on the other. The tip of the 1/4" plug is positive, and connects with the red binding post. Sleeve/negative/black/ If this is your speaker, and you will be using it for some time, convert it to use Speakon connectors. For the Amp, put it in a road case, and a rear panel with Speakon jacks.

You already know what you need, you just have to look for it. Google 'banana plug connector' for online stores, or just go to Radio Shack and buy them.
