I dont really care about high end receivers I just want to take advantage of my HDMI capable components at hand, what would be a cheaper receiver made by perhaps JVC or Sony ? Also the receiver must have HDMI video and audio capabilities with no pass through only processing or full video and audio switching

The Yamaha RX-V663 is a good choice. It's what I have & it processes the video & sound only using HDMI. The Dolby TrueHD sounds great watching The Dark Knight. If you want cheap, then that's what you'll get. But if you want something you can expand on, then go Yamaha. It has pre-outs for all channels so you can add power amps later on w/o having to change the receiver.

I went with the cheapest one I could find, the Model-T of HD receivers--the Onkyo TX-SR606. It's under $350 on Amazon. I've had one for a while now and recommend it as a great value.
