Okay when I finished working out with a fitness dvd I wanted to push the MENU button on the Oritron dvd player remote but I hit another button called PSCAN and then the dvd went to its menu screen and there was a huge red message, like an error message, and the dvd player cut off and the screen went black and then static came on the screen. So, I turned off the dvd player and unhooked the cord that went from the dvd player into the tv, waited a couple seconds, and hooked the cord back in the tv and turned on the dvd player and still got the same static on the screen. I have tried pressing buttons on the player and the dvd remote too. I also tried looking for the dvd manuel but I couldn't find it because my mother probably threw it out years ago. What I haven't tried is unplugging the eletrical cord from the dvd player that powers it from the wall, but I don't think that'll work, idk. If you can help me with this problem I will be very appreciative because this is the only dvd I have in my house besides the one in my room, which is very tricky to operate.

I am unable to locate a manual or the web site for your particular DVD player. However not all is lost. Does your player have channel 3/4 output also? If it does, use that to hook up to your TV temporarily. TV channel output is never progressive scan so you should get a video display from your DVD player. From there you would go to the setup menu and deselect progressive scan. If that doesn't work or you don't have channel 3/4 output then you will need to list the specific model number of your DVD player. With that, someone may be able to help you more.

My favorite DVD player has been the cheapest ones I've bought. The 30 dollar Cyber Home from Best Buy has been my absolute favorite. I bought it for college, thinking that if it were dropped or ruined, it wouldn't matter. It's lasted me beyond college and it's still my favorite. I've had a Phillips, a Toshiba, a Sony, an Apex (piece of crap), and a few others and I don't like any as much as my Cyberhome. You can use any speakers/subs with them. If the discs don't play with the one you have, you can use the speakers with another player.

Every time I break something, I use a credit card to fix it. It works like this:

1. Get a credit card

2. Go to your local electronics store. Best Buy is best in my opinion.

3. Go up to the counter and tell them this password: "Hello, I need a new DVD player."

4. Hand them the credit card. They will respond with "Do you know which one?" If they don't, grab your card and run.

5. Point at a random DVD player off the shelf. They're all the same.

6. After you do what they tell you to for a few minutes, you'll find yourself walking out with the DVD player. Read the manuals and set it up!

Use Google, it's a great invention for fixing things.
