The 4805's video processor (Faruja DCDi) is much better than the IN72's (Pixel Works)...You won't notice a much of a difference with Hi-Def and computer images, but everything else you watch will look better on the 4805...And the 4800 looks even better than that.

I agree with JSF's response. And even though the SP4805 may look ugly [per the other forum member's response], it still comes with a fairly decent built-in speaker which has been eliminated from the IN72. So, you can take the SP4805 anywhere and not have to bring along an audio setup. As for seeing how the Faroudja [in the SP4805] is superior to the Pixelworks Deinterlacer [in the IN72], put on an "video" sourced DVD, and you'll see the jaggies on the IN72; none on the SP4805. It's that easy to see; at any distance.
And at infocus.com, a refurbished SP4805 currently sells for a mere $320. Such a deal!
Also consider the difference in replacement lamps: the IN72 lamp costs $399 versus the SP4805 lamp which sells for $330.
Good luck!

I would have to disagree with the other folks. The IN72 is brighter, quieter and better contrast ratio. Yes, on paper the SP4805 may be better because it has the Faroudja DCDi, but you really can't tell the difference in-person unless you sit 1 foot away from the image. But, who really watches TV that way? The SP4805 was noisy and ugly.
