I have a Wards 809 zoom 8mm film projector that will go in reverse, but not forward. Can I fix this?

My dad left his old projector to me and I have a box full of reel to reel movies that are 30+ yrs old that I would love to watch. I set it all up last night and everything works except it will not run forward, only reverse. Is this something I can fix? Or does anyone know where I could take it to get it fixed?

Also, if you can't seem to find an answer to your problem, I would still suggest joining the forum, because if you are interested in fixing it, there are guys on there who provide such services, or if you are interested in buying another one, there are people on there who list ones for sale.



I would try looking inside the projector to see if everything is functioning correctly. Check all levers, switches, belts, and clutches, etc... it may be something you can fix no problem...

Not to be insulting, but check again to see if there is a separate reversing switch for the motor. If it's not there, look inside and try to find a switch that is being pressed when you activate the forward control. Are all the wires connected at both ends? If it's a push-button switch, make sure it goes in far enough to activate the motor. Is there is a separate reverse switch? You may be able to swap switches. Old film is brittle, and all it takes is a couple torn sprocket holes to tear up a film, so you may want to visit your local photo shop where you can get cleaner-lubricant for film as well as splicing tape. As great 8mm action picture runs at 15 ft according to minute, it quite is around $a million.50 according to minute.
