Question:
How to adjust dynamic range on television?

I have a 32" Vizio television and a Sony blu ray player, when I use the blu ray player there is a loud humming noise.

I was told to change the dynamic range settings, but I don't see 'dynamic range' anywhere. What settings/selections do I adjust to stop the humming?

Please and thank you for the help.

Dynamic Range has nothing to do with hum.

FIRST: Start playing something where you hear some hum. Find your CATV coax that feeds into your home and un-screw the connector. Does the hum stop? If so - call your cable/sat company to come out and ground your coax. (Long runs of CATV coax near AC power wires are the most common source of hum. It infects your gear).

SECOND: Does your hometheater have a self-powered subwoofer? Does the power cord have 3 prong plug? If so - try one of those orange 3 prong to 2 prong adapters.

First, the chances that it has anything to do with your power lines overlapping with your signal cables is slim to none. All of your cables would have to have next to nothing as far as shielding is concerned and that's highly unlikely.

Also, I'm going to assume you are using an HDMI connection which is all digital as in ones and zeroes. The interference issue as described by other people would only apply to an analog connection. Interference on an a digital connection would resilt in a loss of signal and output, not humming.

You aren't very clear as far as where the humming is coming from, your speakers on your television or your Blu-ray player itself. Please clarify and I might be able to give you some more insight into this issue.

Regardless, dynamic range settings are found in the audio section of settings menu your Blu-ray player, not your television set. They should always be set to "off."

Try grounding everything as should be grounded, check your connections and wiring, and set rational output levels for all your preamp level outputs. If that doesnt get rid if the hum, you may have inappropriately shielded components. Visio is Sony's poo line of gear, and you may be getting a prequel to its going away. Otherwise, get a better quality player, if that is the source of the humming.

It sounds like you do not have the Blu ray player connected properly to the TV...The only connection that one should use for a Blu ray player is HDMI..You should have one cable going from Blu ray player to TV for both sound and video and that should be an HDMI cable.....
