I have 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers and a subwoofer. They are wired to the receiver by the red & black (pos & neg) wires. I had the speakers hooked up directly to the receiver but couldn't figure out how to hook up the sub.

Later i found out that that i have to wire two speakers into the subwoofer (input) and then wire the subwoofer to the receiver (output). So my front speakers are directly wired to the receiver and the rear speakers are wired to the subwoofer which is wired to the receiver.

After all that, not only does my sub not work but the rear speakers that are wired to it aren't working. What could be the cause?

Sounds like you have it wired backwards. The speakers should be hooked up to the subwoofer's output and the input on the sub should be hooked up to the receiver's output.

they're out of area, its in common terms an straightforward wiring project. this means that the subs are under pressure out opposite of one yet another. in simple terms change the terminals on one sub and youl be stable to bypass
