Question:
Setting Up An Advanced Home Audio System?
?

I want to set up a home audio system with speakers throughout the house. Here's my problem: I would also like to be able to run the audio from my tv, xbox, Stereo system, Computer, Ipod, and other audio devices all on the same system without having to unplug and plug in devices every time I want to use something else. Of course I am not trying to have them all playing at the same time, so I need something that will allow me to have them all plugged in and switch between them as I need them. I'm not sure what kind of device to use. And Idea's?

This sounds like a job for a Sonos system...

You can control this with an iPhone. It can play internet radio, music from your other devices etc. You can choose a play list from where ever you like and direct it to play in what ever room you like.

I don't have the Sonos myself but I'm planning to get it. Right now I'm using a system from HTD with wired keypads mounted on the wall in each room. The plan is to add Sonos zone players as inputs on my existing HTD system. If I were starting from scratch I would just go with only the Sonos.

Well not sure what your using for the audio video system. If your happy with what you have for components, then you need a audio video switcher that many company's make. This would allow you to plug in all your components audio and video and select the source you want to watch or listen to and route that to both your audio system and video display. Some of them will also have remote control switching which can be programmed into a universal remote to work all your components and system together making it much easier to use.

Or get a newer receiver with enough audio and video inputs; preferably with hdmi inputs, that will handle all your needs.

Seems to me you'd need a high-quality separate source selector component, OR a receiver with tons and tons of inputs so that you could hook everything up to it and use it to select the source. Pretty complicated question. It would probably pay to have a consultation with a local home theater install specialist. Good luck!

that's a spectacular setup, esp. the quad middle. one subject that's truly helpful to think approximately, in spite of if, is finding out to purchase a low priced/used abode windows XP, and preserving off on the recent super laptop, till 2010, whilst abode windows 7 comes out. Vista is 12% slower then XP, inspite of three or 4 gigs of RAM as unfavourable to 2. abode windows 7 would be lots speedier, and could need greater bells and whistles; that is kinda a perfected version of Vista. nevertheless, in case you elect the recent laptop now (have faith me, i be conscious of how which may be) what you have there'll be a spectacular equipment. costly, yet well worth it in case you desire to apply it lots.
