How do I hook up sound from my TV to my stereo speakers?

I want to play an audio CD from my TV through my DVD player. I would like to hook up the sound from my TV to my stereo speakers. Can somebody give me a simplified, detailed explanation on how to do this? Thanks in advance.

To hook up your TV to your stereo:



Get 3 cables with RCA connectors at both ends; connect

one cable in between the TV's VIDEO IN and your stereo's

VIDEO OUT; then connect another cable in between your

TV's AUDIO IN "L" and to your stereo's AUDIO OUT "L";

and finally, connect the last cable between your TV's

AUDIO IN "R" and your stereo's AUDIO OUT "R".



To connect your DVD player to your stereo:



Take 3 more cables, and connect one in between your

DVD player's VIDEO OUT to your stereo's VIDEO IN (if

your stereo doesn't have a VIDEO IN, then connect the

VIDEO cable to your TV's VIDEO IN instead); then take

another cable and connect one end to the DVD player's

AUDIO OUT "R" and the other end to the stereo's AUDIO

IN "L"; and finally, take the last cable and connect it be-

tween your DVD player's AUDIO OUT "L" and your ster-

eo's AUDIO IN "L".

If you have a somewhat modern TV, it should have audio output jacks. Often, but not always, these are red and white. If you connect your audio outputs from your television to the one of the audio inputs on your stereo receiver, when you switch to the appropriate selection on your receiver, you will hear your TV through your stereo speakers. You might want to select the auxilliary input on your stereo receiver. Usually, this is labelled "Aux." Then, when the TV is on, switch your receiver to "Aux" and you should hear your TV program through the stereo speakers. If you don't have a set, go to Best Buy or Circuit City or Radio Shack and buy a set of RCA audio cables to make the connection. You don't need to buy the most expensive cables available, but don't buy the cheapest set either. These cables come in 3 foot, 6 foot, 12 foot and longer runs. If your stereo receiver is fairly close to the TV, you won't need more than 6 feet of cable. 3 foot runs are usually too short to work with, unless the receiver is right on top of the TV. you want to play a music cd on your dvd player, listen to it over your stereo speakers and see it on your tv, is that right?



Well, just hook up your dvd player to both your tv (using a scart cable) and your stereo (using an rca cable) and you're all set...



is that what you were asking?



if you want to also listen to your regular tv programs over your stereo than you'll need to connect an available audio out on your tv to your stereo system... How you can do this depends on what output is available on your tv... there should at the very least be a headphone jack that you could use for this purpose but a dedicated line out would be better...

Hi, that depends on your TV. Check on the rear to see if there are outputs labeled "audio out" or something similar. Often there is a pair of RCA-style jacks on the rear of the television which can be connected to a stereo amplifier or receiver via an audio interconnect cable. This will allow the sound to be played through your stereo system.

Simplest set-up is if your TV has audio out connections available. In that case, using a pair of RCA cables, connect the L(eft) and R(ight) OUT from the TV to a L & R input pair on your stereo amplifier.



If your TV does not have Audio Out connections: Connect your DVD player's Video Out to your TV's Video-In. Connect your DVD player's L & R Audio Outputs (using RCA cables) to one L & R Input pair of your stereo amplifier / receiver. This will give you the best sound when playing DVD's.

I do not think you can do it unless you have a A/V receiver, Most TV's do not have an audio outup option, a crude method would be to to connect yr speakes to a the headphone output option on yr TV, go to a electronics store to purchase the cable, the same would depend on the type of speakers you are using.

you wouldnt need to run the sound from your tv to the speakers.... Run the audio wires out of your dvd player to the stereo or whatever instead of the tv.. these would be the white and red wires
