So i got a new led tv. Samsung 8000 60" and realized theres two different options to audio through my 5.1 samsung home theatre system. Its either i use PCM or DTS NEO 2.5, dts neo 2.5 seems louder but my rear speakers arent loud and with pcm i can use matrix so all speakers work equally but its not as loud. Whats the differenct betweem the two, and whats best for gaming, watching hockey and movies?

Pulse-code modulation (PCM) is a method used to digitally represent sampled analog signals. It is the standard form for digital audio in computers and various Blu-ray, DVD and Compact Disc formats, as well as other uses such as digital telephone systems. A PCM stream is a digital representation of an analog signal, in which the magnitude of the analog signal is sampled regularly at uniform intervals, with each sample being quantized to the nearest value within a range of digital steps.

DTS Neo:X can take stereo, 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 source material and output up to 11.1 channels including front height and width channels. Unlike Dolby's Pro Logic IIz's system, which only adds front height channels to the 7.1 configuration, Neo:X supports both front height and front wide channels. DTS Neo:X also supports 11.1 encoding through matrixing of front height and front wide channel information into the front and surround channels, respectively, of a 5.1 or 7.1 audio mix.

Listen to whichever one sounds the best to you. Everyone has different tastes and expectations when it comes to audio so do whatever makes your ears happy.

Hope that helps.
