I have a 5.1 speaker set up for my computer. The sound quality is very good. The problem is I get this annoying sound from what appears to come from my center channel speaker. The sound appears for increments of around 10 seconds at a time. I may get dozens of these sound increments in a day or some days I hear nothing. The sounds comes through the speaker when I'm not playing any sounds or tunes through my speaker. The best description for these sound increments is that it sounds similiar to morse code. It's short and long beeps. Since these sounds are annoying I found myself turning down the volume buttom on the speaker but it has no affect on these sound increments. These beeping sounds just have a mind of their own. Does anyone have some suggestions to try and eliminate these morse code type sounds. I thought maybe it was some disturbance from outside but I recently moved 100 miles and I have these same sounds as when I lived in my previous home. I'm sure this is simple but ?????

If the sound is only coming from the center ch speaker then the cables the PC or the speakers themselves are acting like an antenna and picking up outside interference. What you may be hearing could actually be amature ham operators sending morse. This sometime occurs in cheaper non-shielded speakers or if there are grounding issues

it really does sound like a cel phone related problem. Is it possible that the phone in question belongs to a neighbor or some such thing?

Try this for an experiment - gather any celphones you have easy access to. Turn them on vibrate and put them on the speaker. Call them from your home phone, and listen for the morse code.

Some phones synch every ten seconds or so, and that activity can cause exactly what you are describing. If it doesn't seem to be the phones, try to think what other electronic devices it could be - particularly anything wireless.

If it sounds like the morse code then most probably it's radio wave interference. It usually occurs in poorly designed electronices and long lengths of wires acting as antennas. Try changing the position of the electronics.

Secondly, Check the grounding of your electronics. Sometimes, though rarely they can also produce such sounds (usually it's like a hiss)

Hope this helps.
