i have a toshiba dvd video recorder dr430 what is the best external tuner i should buy thanks

For antenna, any digital converter box, or ATSC tuner with composite A/V out.

*The HD-Homerun, as good as it is, will not work for you, as it is a tuner for computers, in that it has no A/V out or manual control.



For cable or other pay provider, get their box that has composite A/V out. You may not have the option to purchase it though.
