the 2 answers above are simply wrong.

answer: monster is an evil corporation who loves to charge consumers 10 times what something is really worth. They do this by massive advertising (which you pay for in the $100 cable) and monopolize their product so every store must sell it.

best website: www.monoprice.com (NEW HDMI cables for <$10, and NO DIFFERENCE with the $100-200 ones in Best Buy)

Every major consumer report out there on expensive HDMI vs cheap HDMI has shown that cheap HDMI provides 100% equal image quality. You don't have to be worried about having a cheap cable from Amazon, monoprice, bluejeanscables, or such. Really you shouldn't have to pay more then $15 for an HDMI cable unless you're going with a really exceptionally long run. But do make sure the cable you get is listed as being HDMI 1.3. That just means its the specification of HDMI where both video and audio are going to be carried on the same cable.

Amazon only sells used stuff? That's news to Amazon!

Cables are just over priced in the stores, and worse still, you're not even buying a better quality product. Just one that's made by a company with a larger marketing department.

For the vast majority of the market, the cheaper stuff is going to be just fine. For the rest, they know they'll need something better, and they also know that it's NOT sold at Best Buy!

From my understanding, packaging from the store are the biggest differences. Marketing and packaging of, say, a 6FT cable can reach up to $60. Is it worth it? probably not. I am a huge proponent of getting cables on the cheap- ones that work just as good and do not require the heavy box or fancy packaging. The difference of $5 vs $60 can go a long way. Why not just buy 12 cables at $5 instead of 1 cable at $60? With some research via shopping.com and other comparison sites, I ended up buying my cables at everythingoutlet.com- they managed to hook me in with their $4.99 cable deal. All in all, my ps3 is up and running.. blue ray looks good, hdmi cable is doing its job for over 1 year now. Save yourself some money.. don't bother with the expensive stuff. The old say "you get what you pay for" doesn't apply to this situation.

There is a huge markup for cables in a retail store. Best Buy employees pay 50% for their monster cables (and the store still makes money).

There is also a 'tradition' of over-priced wires sold to audiophiles and some of these cable companies 'train' employees to scare people into buying high-profit copper wires. They have done a good job of this over the years.

Cables - DO make a difference but there has been so much 'snake-oil' used to sell them that most people here think it's all a lie. (It's not, but people have hurt feelings over being ripped off.)

In truth - the bulk of the cost to manufacture a cable is in the labor. And there is a huge Asian manufacturing industry that can crank out thousands of cables for under a few bucks. (Amazon, Monoprice)

Simple answer is - everything on Amazon is second-hand - so they're asking cheaper prices for the items.

Top of the range HDMI cables have gold-plated contacts and 100% oxygen-free copper cable - these items are expensive to produce - and thus the costs are ultimately born by the consumer !

La última vez quería un cable que conecta mi ordenador al televisor, el cable que me ha llegado corresponde con su descripción, tiene buena transmisión digital, es bastante resistente y una buena calidad y todo a un precio muy bueno, como siempre una excelente compra.
